Easy Everyday Spiritual Practice

Deciding to live a spiritually aware life can seem overwhelming. There’s a lot of learning and work that is required. But don’t become so overwhelmed you never get past the crossroads. Here are some ways you can live a spiritually mindful life with a few small changes to your everyday routine. Remember, the whole of life is a spiritual experience.

  1. Exercise:

What does exercise have to do with spirituality you ask? It is a key component of living a healthy life, and to live a healthy life is to be in tune with divinity. Our physical selves matter. Many spiritual teachings often focus on spiritual health and mental health, and here at Daimonikos we believe adding physical health to those aspects completes the proverbial triangle. The health of your mind, body, and soul are all equally important to living a spiritual life. So get out there and work your body! Be it yoga, tai chi, hitting the gym, dance, or any combination of physical activity appropriate for your body. Any age and any physical fitness level can engage in exercise. The more you do it, the more in tune you will be with your body and soul. Let the quote from the Greco-Roman poet Juvenalis be your guiding affirmation, “You should pray for a healthy mind in a healthy body (Orandum est ut sit mens sana in corpore sano).” More commonly known as, “A healthy mind can only dwell in a healthy body.”

We include physical activity in our Spiritual Counseling sessions, which are available on our Holistic Healing page.

  2. Pray over Meals:

It would seem most people’s experience with praying during meal time is with Christian and Catholic tradition, but it is not exclusive to that religion. Praying over meals is a way to give thanks to divinity for you fortune, prosperity, and abundance. We should always give thanks for and appreciate what we have. Pray to whatever god or gods you feel connected to, and thank them for their guidance in your life. It is also a way to imbue your food with your magick and activate the latent magickal energies within the food. You’ll taste the difference!

We thank Gaia and the animals who give the ultimate sacrifice to feed us.

  3. Eat Healthy (for your body):

There are many ways this can be accomplished. Start with researching your blood type and Dosha. Our body is a complex chemical reaction and it is important we compliment our bodies with what we ingest. You can consult an ayurvedic practitioner, spiritual counselor, or dietitian for assistance in creating a meal plan that is inline with your body.

For more information on how eating and what we take in to our bodies affects our physical, mental, and emotional health, check out our blog entitled “We Are What We Eat: An Esoteric Definition”. And to dive deeper register for our Colour Symbolism Class, where one aspect you will learn is about color association and how it matters in regards to food.

  4. Spend Time in Nature:

This may seem like an obvious answer, but it is surprising how often people neglect one of the simplest ways of connecting with spirituality and divinity. Grounding as well as drawing energy from the sun and moon are active ways of connecting with Nature, though passively walking in the woods, mountains, or by a body of water are just as effective. In a day and age where untouched nature and wilderness can be challenging to access, sometimes we need to create our own green space. Have a special space in your house dedicated to nurturing plants; spend quality times with your pet(s); make a bird feeder and place it outside an easy to access window and bird watch; or find a local park and take weekly walks and meditate among the trees or by the water.

If you are looking to learn more about how to connect with Nature and that connection’s role in education (especially great if you have little ones), head over to our Classes and Workshops page and register for the “Nature-Based Education Workshop”.

  5. Drink Filtered Water:

Trust us on this one! It can be intimidating to research filters and they can get expensive. We recommend the Zero Water Filter brand (not sponsored). They are affordable, easy to store, and effective. They even filter out fluoride! Which is a must for the spiritually aware person. Fluoride calcifies your pineal gland, the organ in your body that is the physical representation of your third eye. The third eye is often spoken of esoterically and metaphorically, but it is also a literal thing. Keep it free and healthy by eliminating all excess fluoride from your diet like in water and toothpaste.

We have the water pitcher, shower head (cause we absorb water through our skin), and faucet attachment.

  6. Meditate:

This is a common suggestion, but do you know why we have it on this list? Because we believe meditation as a daily practice can be easy and enjoyable, as well as produce noticeable results. Keep in mind not to get frustrated if you feel your mind race, or you can’t seem to clear your mind of all thoughts. This doesn’t mean your doing anything wrong! Start with guided meditations or music. This can help fill in the space our racing minds feel the need to fill. If you have an intrusive thought, acknowledge it then see it on its way. Meditation sessions can vary in length. Start out with a five minute session with an intent and build from there. Meditation can of course be done at any time during the day or night, but the beginning and end of our days are wonderful restorative times for us to meditate.

Add daily meditation to your manifestation board or chore list to have a visual record of your practice and progress!

  7. Listen to binaural beats, planetary sounds, and classical music:

Listening to music is a direct connection to divinity. Music is mathematics and art coming together to transfer emotion and messages between us and divinity. You can create and sing your own music or recite poetry, sing or recite another artists work, read and recite Orphic Hymns, and/or listen to healing binaural beats, the sounds of the planets, and classical music by any composer to tap into the healing power and divine nature of music.

We recommend the planetary sounds of Saturn for releasing negative energy, Mars for passion and strength, Venus for love and healing, Mercury for communication prowess, and Pluto for exploring your dark side and wealth. The frequency of 528 hz (hertz) is beneficial for healing and 432 hz is great for calming anxiety. Listen to these overnight as you sleep, while doing house work, in the car, or while studying.

Being a spiritual person is a way of life and in the Daimonikos tradition we weave our spirituality into every fiber of our lives. We hope these eight easy tips help you begin to weave spirituality into your daily routine and every day life.
