The Value of Freedom

Personally, Freedom is my top most value I hold dear. Why? Because all other values are made possible through the existence of such. If you have personal freedom you are afforded the community, family, knowledge, courage, prosperity, and safety you desire. All other values steam from, and are made possible by, freedom. In the future we will host workshops on values and how you can prioritize yours to help you manifest the life you desire, but for now I have compiled quotes I have written on this subject to express my deep passion and love for the value of freedom through the lens of being a witch.

“Don’t let people take your freedom away by telling you how to think, what to say, and how to dress. Be free. Be a witch.”

One of the hardest questions we ask ourselves is “who am I?” How do you think? What are your values? How do you communicate and express yourself? What is your style? Only you can determine these aspects of who you are. Mediate and learn who you are at your core, not what you’ve been taught you should be. Deprogram your mind. Reflect on your music tastes, spirituality, taste in food, the media you consume, style, and occupation. But remember, we are the product of our culture and experiences, and that’s okay. Forgive yourself for any negative outcomes of life experience and move forward into the new you equipped with the best aspects of culture and experience. Being unabashedly and unstoppably you is the essence of freedom.

“The concept of a witch is inherently tied to freedom. That is why the idea of being a witch is appealing: freedom calls to you in the form of a wild woman or man acting out the essence of freedom by their existence alone.

The need for freedom writhes like a snake inside of you, coiling and constricting, longing to be birthed and experience the universe outside of its shell, which has served it well up until now. Embrace the movement and your inner witch. Have courage, and be free.”

We all feel it, the call of freedom. Whether its quitting our jobs and moving to Europe to be a travel vlogger, being part of the #vanlife, starting your own business, our founding a homestead for you and your family. Freedom looks different to everyone. And that’s okay! As I mentioned in the paragraph above, you must do some soul searching and find out who YOU are and transfer that to what YOUR definition of freedom is. But don’t let others determine what that is. When you know what true liberation is for you and what that feels like, embrace it and chase it; make it happen!

As I say at the ending of every episode of Spell Cast podcast, “There’s a little witch in all of us.” Regardless of your spiritual beliefs and background we have a little witch in all of us because we all have the desire and drive to be free, which is what the idea of being a witch stands for. Ironically we have been told and sold what being a witch and being free should look like, but don’t get sucked in by this, continue to think for yourself and pave the path you want for your time on this earth and beyond. Freedom can not be bought and sold; YOU create it. Manifest freedom through your thoughts and actions. Birth the snake, embrace the movement, have courage, and be free witch.

While this is not the full explanation of my values, I do hope through these quotes you have come to understand a little more about how my top value of freedom translates to my practice as a witch, and how the two are linked. It only makes sense that the structure of my value scale would lead me to the spiritual path I am on, and why it has already brought me so far in my movement and growth as an individual. Many blessings to you as you walk your own path to freedom!
